The NDP urging the Conservatives for answers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WEEKLY REVIEW: THE NDP URGING THE
CONSERVATIVES FOR ANSWERS

Val-d’Or, October 3, 2014 – This was a busy week for all NDP MPs, and
Romeo Saganash was no exception. In addition to criticizing the
Conservatives for their attitude during Question Period, the NDP tabled a
motion in the Commons to give the Speaker of the House the authority to
reprimand members of Parliament and Ministers for providing inadequate
responses to direct questions.

The NDP also insisted that the government divulge its real intentions
regarding the Canadian Army’s participation in the combat against the Islamic
State in Iraq. As of this morning, the Conservatives still had not made a clear
announcement regarding their plans for this mission.

Mr. Saganash, for his part, was back on the offensive during Question Period
Monday, demanding answers on missing and murdered Aboriginal women
issue.

On Tuesday, September 30, he was proud to take part in Orange Shirt Day
and a bit emotional as he honoured the survivors of Indian residential
schools. This year’s event was themed “Every child matters / Chaque enfant
compte”. Saganash’s NDP colleagues stopped to pose with him in front on
Parliament to capture the moment. (Please click on the following link to see

Today, Mr. Saganash will be speaking in a keynote role at the National
Forum on Clean Energy and Industry, where he will present First Nations’
perspectives on the issue.

Tomorrow – Saturday, October 4 – Saganash will also be speaking at the
start gate for the March to Denounce Indifference and Launch a National
Inquiry, as part of a national initiative to hold vigils in commemoration of missing and murdered Aboriginal women. He will then make his way to the untimely funeral of former Amos Mayor, Ulrick Chérubin.
