ROMEO SAGANASH TO MEET MAYOR PIERRE CORBEIL AND MP ÉLIZABETH LAROUCHE ON ISSUE OF HOMELESSNESS

VAL-D’OR – Romeo Saganash, MP for Abitibi–Baie-James–Nunavik–Eeyou, is delivering on his commitment made last month to tackle the problem of homelessness in 2014. On January 20, he will meet with Val-d’Or Mayor Pierre Corbeil and Élizabeth Larouche, Quebec MNA for Abitibi-Est and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs.

“We are aware of the extent of the problem and it is a huge concern. The time for study is over. We need to take action. Funding has been allocated and resources are available. Now we have to look at how to use them to tackle homelessness in Val-d’Or,” said Saganash.

Saganash acknowledges that resolving homelessness is a multi-stage process that will not be accomplished overnight.

“The goal of this first meeting is to set the stage for cooperation between the people elected to represent Val-d’Or, and pool all the resources necessary to improve the situation,” he explained.
