ROMEO SAGANASH PARTICIPATES IN WALK THROUGH VAL-D’OR TO FIGHT DISCRIMINATION

Val d’Or, March 20, 2015 – Romeo Saganash, MP for Abitibi-Baie-James-Nunavik-Eeyou, joins hundreds of people this afternoon to walk through the streets of Val d’Or, for the 15th annual Gabriel-Commanda Walk.

Mr. Saganash responded to the invitation from the Val-d’Or Native Friendship Centre, which has organized the event for 15 years. The walk raises awareness about the need to work towards better relationships between different cultural communities.

«We are becoming more accepting of difference, said Mr. Saganash, but there is still much work to be done. From its beginning, Val-d’Or has been cosmopolitan city, but intolerance to difference still exists. We must continue to promote acceptance and integration. Each person, no matter the colour of skin, their religion or for any other reason, has the right to be accepted as they are. This is what I defend by walking with everyone else.»

The Member of Parliament recognizes the importance of the Gabriel-Commanda Walk and supports the movement in the hope that future generations will live in a world where discrimination is a thing of the past.
