ROMEO SAGANASH AWARDS JUBILEE MEDALS TO RECIPIENTS IN THE RIDING

Val-d’Or – In the presence of nearly 150 people, New Democrat MP Romeo Saganash awarded Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medals to citizens of his riding.

23 recipients were honoured this Sunday and the MP will hold another award ceremony in Chibougamau on February 2nd, where 7 people will also be recognized.

As well as rewarding well known citizens in the riding, this commemoration also recognizes the more obscure heroes that we do not hear about as often.

“I wanted to recognize these citizens for their dedication to the community, hard work, service and political involvement. The recipients were selected based on suggestions from people and organizations in the riding,” said Romeo Saganash.

This commemorative medal was created as part of the celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne. The Diamond Jubilee Medal recognizes the contributions and achievements of 60,000 Canadians.
