Saganash returns from listening tour of Northern Québec
Val-d’Or – Last week, New Democrat MP Romeo Saganash (Abitibi – Baie James – Nunavik – Eeyou) made his listening tour of the communities in the James Bay region and Nunavik to hear their concerns directly. From August 14th to 16th, Saganash visited Matagami, Whapmagoostui/Kuujjuarapik and Kuujjuaq where he met with municipal and Band councils, community leaders, organizations and the public at large in a series of meetings.
“This trip was a great opportunity to sit down and listen to my constituents and hear their concerns first-hand” said Saganash. “I will be taking these concerns that were shared with me back to Ottawa to press the government to act on resolving them”.
During this tour constituents shared their concerns about the lack of funding for basic services, ambulance services, the rapidly increasing cost of living, cost of food and quality of food in the North and the lack of affordable housing.
From September 11th to 13th, Saganash will embark a second listening tour of communities along the James Bay coast. “I will be making these tours on a regular basis and I invite constituents to continue to share their concerns with me” said Saganash. “I want to hear from you” concluded MP Romeo Saganash.
